Hutchings and Carter were appointed as the specialist groundworks and civil engineering sub- contractor on this Flagship contract for one of the leading Main Contractors in the country. The contract value for Hutchings and Carter exceeded £1.35million and involved many aspects of the company’s capabilities. We performed large scale underpinning, excavation for and provision of new structural floors and damp proofing within the basement of the mansion to create increased headroom. We installed new underground foul and surface water drainage both inside and outside the house and other buildings on the project. We installed various underground tanks on the project including sewerage tanks and a huge underground water storage tank that was part of an emergency fire fighting installation for the mansion.
We carried out extensive works to the gardens creating both formal and less formal gardens and grounds. We created a new drive to the property and the large courtyard to the existing stable complex was carefully lifted, cleaned and re-laid stone for stone as it had become very uneven over the decades it had been down.
We also completed all the groundworks for a new block of garages and gym both of which were set partially underground, a new swimming pool complex including large pool/entertainment building and a variety of retaining walls, land drainage and services installations as part of the total refurbishment works.
