Hutchings and Carter were approached and subsequently appointed to take over a groundworks subcontract package of works from another subcontractor contractor that was underachieving on site. Hutchings & Carter priced and then mobilised at short notice to assist the multinational main contractor complete a groundworks subcontract package that was falling behind programme severely. The contract of approaching £600k was completed in about 4 months having retrieved the lost time to get the project back on programme.

The contracted works involved a significant amount of excavation and disposal of asbestos contaminated ground from various areas on the site with all the associated health and safety monitoring and protection.

This contract also involved both surface water and foul drainage which included deep drainage and the installation of a large below ground storage tank. New underground service ducts were brought into and also distributed to various locations within the site. There was significant hard landscaping in the form of kerbing and concrete hard standings. We created a large HGV access and parking area around the building with two site entrance modifications which the new layout demanded.
