New Safety Feature for its Fleet of Heavy Goods Vehicles
Waltet Materials Limited the Hampshire based waste and recycling company is always seeking new innovative ways to make its fleet of vehicles even safer. In 2015 Waltet achieved the FORS Bronze standard certification which is a voluntary scheme aimed at ensuring fleet operators work lawfully and to best practice.
The company invests heavily in staff training and safety awareness both on the road and on-site the management team are always seeking greater safety.
With traffic increasing year on year and heavy goods vehicles, cars, cyclists and pedestrians being forced to share the same congested road space there is the potential of an increase in the risk of accidents and injury. The company has invested in a new product PeoplePanels® made of tough shatter-resistant composite plastic fitted over the under run bars or side guards of a heavy goods vehicle (HGV). Research shows that these flat panels over under-run bars offer huge safety benefits to vulnerable road users because they point out the danger zone between the front and rear wheels of an HGV.
